French pre-school and nursery

L'Ecole du Parc welcomes a small number of children, aged 1 to 5 years, in a warm and friendly atmosphere, just moments away from Clapham Common (Garfield Community Centre, 64 Garfield Road, London SW11 5PN).

The school is a house, the Garfield Community Centre, just off Lavender Hill with its own outside playground.

The educational programme of the school is that of the French Department for Education but care is taken to complement it with the English educational programme ("Birth to Three Matters". for 1 to 3 year-olds and the "Foundation Stage Curriculum" for 3 to 5 year-olds) The teaching team assesses and adapts the educational and care programme on a regular basis.

The main language at the school is French but some activities, such as music, are offered in English, by native English teachers. The school library includes books, CD-ROMs and CDs in French and English .

In general, more than half of the children who attend the school are bi-lingual (French English). The remaining children are evenly split between children who speak only English when they arrive and children who speak only French.
